Harris Echoes No Tax on Tips

Tax was a trending topic (our dream come true) this weekend when Vice President Kamala Harris echoed Former President Donald Trump’s pledge to eliminate taxes on tips for service workers.

On June 9, Trump announced this proposal at his rally in Las Vegas followed by his post, “We need to spread the word so every time you leave a tip for the next 5 months, you put on the receipt: Vote for Trump for NO TAX ON TIPS!”

Following the pledge, Republican senators, introduced a bill, the No Tax on Tips Act.

Harris states, “No Tax on Tips”

Vice President Kamala Harris followed the same path in Las Vegas on August 10, stating,

“When I am president, we will continue our fight for working families of America, including to raise the minimum wage, and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.”

This push would also include an increase in the minimum wage.

A campaign official from the Vice President’s team stated, “As president, she would work with Congress to craft a proposal that comes with an income limit and with strict requirements to prevent hedge fund managers and lawyers from structuring their compensation in ways to try to take advantage of the policy.”

Trump’s Response

After hearing VP Harris’s pledge, Former President Trump, posted on Truth Social, “Kamala Harris, whose “Honeymoon” period is ENDING, and is starting to get hammered in the Polls, just copied my NO TAXES ON TIPS Policy. The difference is, she won’t do it, she just wants it for Political Purposes! This was a TRUMP idea – She has no ideas, she can only steal from me. Remember, Kamala has proposed the LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HISTORY – It won’t happen.”

Trump is claiming that Harris, simply said, “Ditto”.

However, it is important to note that “No Tax on Tips” is not a new idea. Ron Paul suggested the same in 2012.

Staying Updated

It appears that “No Tax on Tips” will be a mantra that will continue throughout the election.

While many argue over who stole the idea, service workers explained that their base wage concerns them, not the tips.
